When it comes to fun family vacations, Ottawa is a great destination for kids and adults alike. Families that want to get away, but don't want to break the bank to do so, can also take advantage of the numerous activities that can be enjoyed all year long that will grab the attention of kids and their parents. Here are some of the best places to take children for less.
Mont Cascade Waterpark
This waterpark is just 20 minutes away from the heart of downtown Ottawa. This is a perfect place to go this summer, as the admission tickets are not expensive and kids can enjoy several different water slides for little ones of all ages. Families can save even more by packing a lunch and enjoying it in many of the great picnic areas.
Canadian Children's Museum
Nestled within the large Canadian Museum of Civilization, this museum is full of 30 permanent exhibits for children to learn all about the world. Those looking for the best time to see it may want to go on Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m., when they have free admission. Also, children under 3 years old get in for free.
In the summer, families should pack a lunch and walk around the Arboretum while also visiting the Canada Agriculture Museum and animals. There are a lot of animals to see, and kids who love different creatures will certainly be pleased. When families first arrive, they should remember to take a schedule so they do not miss any of the events.
Little Ray's Reptile Zoo
This fun zoo has more than 250 animals on display, allowing the little ones to learn all about reptiles.
Parents who want to take a full day to act like kids again should check out Funhaven. This is one of Ottawa's newest entertainment destinations, and features an area for laser tag, a jungle gym, bowling lanes and video and prize games. Not to mention, the venue also has bumper cars and other attractions. One thing's for sure, no one will be bored when they arrive at Funhaven.
