Amazing beer is practically synonymous with Ottawa nowadays, thanks to groups like the Ottawa Beer TAP Society, which has made it easy for visitors and residents to access the impressive microbrewing scene in Canada’s capital city. This week, the group is putting on its annual holiday event, highlighting the latest and greatest beers from numerous makers in the area. If October's beer tasting, which featured unique brews like cranberry and kumquat wheat ale, was any indication, then the holiday event is sure to be just as, if not more, spectacular.
Spiced beer is perhaps the best way to complement the beautiful winter weather, adding a holiday flavour to any dinner or casual hang-out session with friends and family staying at Ottawa hotels. Thankfully, the folks at the Ottawa Beer TAP Society know how to make a delicious holiday beer, and this week, offerings like the tart cherry ale, smoked oatmeal stout and imperial Canadian maple stout are sure to be a hit among beer connoisseurs and amateurs alike.
For those who miss out on this week's festivities, they can still travel to Ontario for WinterBrewed on February 16 and 17. Coinciding with the annual Winterlude celebration, this beer fest will feature even more seasonal brews that will please any and all palates.
