Travelers who enjoy taking the time to admire some of the exquisite artwork of Canadian residents while on holiday are in luck when journeying to Ottawa. This fall, Galerie 240 is hosting a wonderful exhibit by artist Shelley Hakonson through November 23rd that will surely delight visitors in this vibrant city.
Hakonson was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and began her life as an artist after being inspired by the cultures and traditions of the world, says her biographical website. Her paintings are shiny and surreal, as they are created primarily with bold colors and acrylics.
The studio’s website claims that Hakonson’s display, titled The Women in My Life, has incorporated even more materials into the pieces, including clay, metals and paper. Many of the images depict various females in different parts of the world, such as an Indian woman hand-in-hand with a Hindu god.
This stunning exhibition may be a great way to experience part of Ottawa’s amazing arts and entertainment world, which offers some incredible opportunities to admire and view Canada’s best works of art.
