There is a classic holiday performance coming to Ottawa this winter that should not be missed by travellers who want to feel the festive spirit. The Tony award- winning musical Oliver will be on stage at Canada’s National Arts Centre through Christmas Eve, and could be a delightful event to attend while on holiday in town.
Oliver brings to life the classic Charles Dickens novel with some great theatrical prowess and a brilliant display of song and dance. The venue’s website says that this play acts out the hard situations that young children in Victorian England had to face in orphanages. Although the themes are sorrowful, the cast brings light and quality entertainment to the show, making for a truly memorable performance.
The Telegraph of London gave Oliver rave reviews when it debuted in England. Critics say that the music breathes new life into the old novel and brings a whole new generation into the world of Dickens’ masterpiece.
Tickets are on sale through the National Arts Centre's website and the show is suitable for all ages.
