Pets play an important role in many people's lives, so travellers who are journeying to new cities may be missing their furry friends at home. Pet-owners visiting Canada's capital city this March 24th can attend a great event that will benefit local animals! The 8th annual Furball will be held at the National Gallery of Canada and can be a wonderful spectacle for travellers to experience on their holiday in Ottawa.
Residents and visitors alike gather every March to honour pets and the positive impact they have on their owners. Unfortunately, like in many large cities, there is an issue with homeless and abandoned cats, dogs and other creatures in Ottawa, so the local Humane Society hopes to alleviate the issue through outreach and awareness. This is why the gala is organised - to provide funding for all the programs the non-profit puts on.
Since the 1800s, the Ottawa Humane Society has worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the city's furry residents, and organisers hope that the gala will be in good spirit of the overall mission. Through the organisation, individuals can volunteer at their animal shelter, adopt pets or donate their knowledge of protecting these creatures by law and through sponsored, informative workshops. Those travelling to Ottawa at any time of year are welcome to contact the city's humane society if they wish to spend some time volunteering on their holiday.
This year's theme will honour the style and glamour of Bollywood, as the venue will be adorned with traditional Indian film decorations and many of the activities will also follow a similar custom. Guests will enjoy valet service, a four-course dinner, cocktail reception and receive gift bags. During the evening, there will also be a silent auction that can be bid on in person or online throughout the month.
Tickets can be purchased online in groups of two or tables for 10 guests. The evening requires black-tie attire and dancing will be encouraged well into the evening. Travellers who enjoy attending formal events and also have a love for pets should not miss this spectacular gala happening in Ottawa this early spring.
